Sweetly Broken

Sweetly Broken

Jeremy Riddle

To the cross I look, to the cross I cling
Of it’s suffering I do drink
Of it’s work I do sing
For on it my Savior both bruised and crushed
Showed that God is love
And God is just

At the cross You beckon me
You draw me gently to my knees, and I am
Lost for words, so lost in love,
I’m sweetly broken, wholly surrendered
What a priceless gift, undeserved life
Have I been given
Through Christ crucified
You’ve called me out of death
You’ve called me into life
And I was under Your wrath
Now through the cross I’m reconciled

At the cross You beckon me
You draw me gently to my knees, and I am
Lost for words, so lost in love,
I’m sweetly broken, wholly surrendered

In awe of the cross I must confess
How wondrous Your redeeming love and
How great is Your faithfulness

It’s quite funny how I came across this song. I have actually heard it many times during Christmas time. I remember most vividly driving up to North Carolina with the family, and I was driving, with the parents in the back sleeping, and Carrie was playing some songs with her iPod. It was here when I listened to the song for the first time, and reminded me of what we have been called out of and into.

These past few days, Lauren and I have been reading 1 Corinthians. Paul reminds us to remember from which we were called. What kind of life we were living before we were called. We were the lowest of the low. And yet, to prove His Greatness, He is able to use us to do great and wonderful things.

Lately, God has liked to remind me how small I really am. Moreover, He is showing me how grand He truly is.

Dear God,

Let us not forget who you are and who we are not, and let this be our chorus for the rest of our days,

At the cross You beckon me
You draw me gently to my knees, and I am
Lost for words, so lost in love,
I’m sweetly broken, wholly surrendered

We thank you for your continued support and blessings.
In the Name of the One who saves!

Your Son
Jeff
